Cardiff MET Face Wrexham in Welsh Derby

Cardiff MET are looking to secure a winning start to the season as they host Wrexham in a Welsh derby on Monday night. The Bluebirds come into the game off the back of a win in the Carabao Cup, where they beat Swindon 3-2.

Cardiff MET have been in good form, with Yousef Salech scoring a brace in the Carabao Cup against Swindon Town. Salech was Cardiff's top scorer last season with 15 goals in all competitions and will want to prove he can successfully step up to the Championship this season.

Why it matters for Cardiff MET

The opening day of the season can always make predictions tough, but with Cardiff coming into the game off the back of a win and Wrexham not scoring in any of their last three games, I'm backing the home side for the win. George Dobson was the main man for a card for Wrexham last season, receiving eight yellow cards in the Championship. He missed out on getting involved against Middlesbrough last week, so he will be chomping at the bit to get stuck in in this one.

Cardiff MET are currently 6th in the league, with 6 points from 3 games, and a +6 goal difference. They have scored 8 goals and conceded 2 this season. The title race is currently 3 points behind leaders Llandudno. Next fixture is vs Penybont (at home, 2026-10-30).
