Cardiff MET midfielder Eliot Evans faces a season-ending injury after rupturing his ACL, requiring surgery. The Cymru Premier club confirmed the devastating news this week, describing it as a substantial blow to their squad.

Evans has been out of action since March after suffering the injury against Haverfordwest County. The club stated, "The Club are devastated to confirm that Eliot Evans has ruptured his ACL and requires surgery." Evans is a club legend, having made 340 appearances, scored 104 goals, and provided 53 assists over a decade of service. He also holds an off-the-pitch coaching role, supporting manager Ryan Jenkins.

Losing a player of Evans's experience and output is a major challenge for manager Ryan Jenkins. The team currently sits fourth in the Cymru Premier with 12 points from six games, having scored 16 goals and conceded seven. Their recent form has been mixed, with a pattern of wins and losses. They are six points behind league leaders Barry Town United, a gap they will need to close without one of their most influential figures. Jenkins will need to rely on other attacking options like Sam Snaith, who scored a hat-trick in a recent 5-0 win over Ammanford, and Jasper Payne, who also netted three against Holywell Town.

Cardiff MET's campaign has been one of highs and lows. They opened with a 6-1 thrashing of Holywell Town and followed it with a win over Airbus UK Broughton. However, they then suffered consecutive defeats to Barry Town United and The New Saints. They bounced back with victories over Briton Ferry Llansawel and Ammanford. The team also lifted the Nathaniel MG Cup last season and qualified for the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds, progressing past Bala Town via a penalty shootout. Their current league standing and goal difference show a team capable of scoring but also vulnerable.

Beyond the playing squad, the club's structure includes key off-field personnel. Chris Baker serves as the Director of Football Systems. The squad has seen some movement, with Adam Roscrow returning briefly before leaving to rejoin Llantwit Major. Defender Emlyn Lewis is now playing in England's National League South with Weston-super-Mare. These changes, coupled with Evans's long-term absence, test the depth and resilience of the entire organization.

The immediate focus shifts to the next fixture, a home match against Penybont on October 30th. Penybont are currently seventh in the table. Before that, Cardiff MET are scheduled to face Cambrian United on September 4th. The club has publicly backed Evans, adding, "We’re all behind you as you begin your recovery, Els." His rehabilitation will be a long process, but the team must now prepare for a key period of games without him. Fans can follow the upcoming schedule on our fixtures page.
