Cardiff MET to Face Barry Town United on BBC iPlayer
Cardiff MET will face Barry Town United in the first Novira Cymru Premier game broadcast on BBC iPlayer this Saturday. The fixture, kicking off at 12.30pm on August 15, marks the start of a new three-year broadcast deal between BBC Cymru Wales and the Football Association of Wales (FAW).
What's the deal?
Under the agreement, a minimum of 20 live Novira Cymru Premier games will be shown on BBC iPlayer each season until summer 2029. This deal strengthens the commitment to provide live coverage of Welsh football, following the recent announcement to show all of the UEFA Wales men’s international games up until Euro 2028.
Why it matters for Cardiff MET
This new partnership will help raise awareness of the league and draw new audiences to Cardiff MET's matches. The deal will double the number of free live broadcasts compared to last season and sits alongside the coverage already provided by Cymru Football TV.
What comes next?
Cardiff MET's next fixture is against The New Saints at home on August 21. The team is currently on a recent form of 1W-2D-2L (DDLLW, most recent first), with their last result being a 2-2 draw against Flint Town United on April 18, 2026.
The New Partnership
The BBC's commitment to Welsh domestic football will play an important role in increasing awareness of the league, attracting new audiences, and supporting the wider ambition to continue growing the game. The partnership will help raise the profile of the Novira Cymru Premier and bring more live football to the fans of Cardiff MET and other Welsh clubs.
